What we did on our dream placement

On Friday we ended the week by giving a Powerpoint presentation of our theme for the week, "What makes a good leader?"; explaining what we had learned from our week at 'Wood' and the types of leadership traits we had noticed from our interviews with Mark, Lesley, and Richard. We gave the presentation to some experienced members of the Westlakes science park office, and they all gave us very positive feedback, saying that we spoke clearly and gave some good points on leadership. They also told us about some of the points they agreed strongly upon and asked questions about some of our points which we were able to then explain in further depth. We then had general conversations about what we had liked during the week and discussed some of the things we were interested in looking further into such as the ROV engineering.

After the presentation, we discussed their week with Mark and talked about what they had most enjoyed; Alex really enjoyed meeting the people in the workplaces, mainly Birchwood, whereas Joe enjoyed the driving of ROVs, and the CAD design at Westlakes. Following the discussion, we then went back on the computers and continued to work on the website and prepare for the showcase event

We then thanked Mark for all of his help throughout the week and for giving them a great insight into the world of work, and what it is like working for an international company like 'Wood'.
